Dispose of CDs, DVDs and Video Games Right

Do not place discs and media in your curbside recycling.

CDs, DVDs and video games in good, working condition can be donated to local community service organizations that will use them to support their work. For a list of donation opportunities, see below.

Cuyahoga County residents can recycle unwanted CDs, DVDs, video games and cases at the Solid Waste District. The District accepts these items year-round at 4750 East 131 Street in Garfield Heights. Drop items off in our building vestibule during regular business hours Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM or on second Saturdays. Look for the labeled collection bin. No bags or boxes in the recycling bin, please. Place items loose in our vestibule drop box and take all bags, boxes and containers home with you.

Acceptable materials include compact discs (CDs), compact discs - recordable (CD-Rs), compact discs - rewritable (CD-RWs), digital video discs (DVDs), Blu-ray discs, 3.5” and 5.25” floppy disks, zip and jazz disks plus jewel/media cases. Items are recycled by Greendisk. The company offers a mail-back service recycling program.

Businesses and residents can recycle discs via local companies that specialize in recycling media items. For business locations, see the list of options below.

If you choose not to recycle unwanted discs and media, place them in the regular trash for disposal.
