Dispose of Antifreeze Right

Do not pour unused or unwanted antifreeze into a storm sewer or down the drains in your home. Storm drains flow directly to streams and Lake Erie. Antifreeze is a serious health hazard to humans and animals if it is ingested. 

Antifreeze from a residence should be disposed through a household hazardous waste collection. City service departments hold seasonal or year-round collections for residents. 

 

Waste from Businesses or Commercial Properties

There are different rules for disposal of hazardous wastes from a business, including antifreeze. Businesses must contract with a licensed company for proper disposal or recycling. See the Business Locations list below for options.
