Republic Services provides weekly curbside recycling for township residents. Combine cups (aluminum, paper and some plastic), cans, cardboard, cartons, glass, paper and boxes plus plastic bottles, jugs and tubs loose (unbagged) in the provided wheeled cart. Recycling is processed at Republic Services Lorain County Resource Recovery Complex in Oberlin.
See the list below for recycling and collection programs in Olmsted Township.
Scrap Metal
Do not place scrap metal in your curbside recycling. Recycle car parts, metal cord and rope, appliances and scrap pieces at a local scrap yard.
Olmsted Township has a year-round drop off for scrap metal on first Saturdays from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM, and second and fourth Wednesdays from 7:00 AM-2:00 PM at the township service garage.
Do not place any scrap metal in your curbside recycling. The only metal that belongs in your curbside recycling are aluminum and steel food and beverage cans.
Other scrap metal like extra large cookie and popcorn tins, car parts, appliances, license plates, wire hangers and hot water tanks can be recycled at a local scrap yard or through a community scrap metal drop-off for residents. To find collection information for your community, use this website’s geolocation services, or choose your community from the green ‘Select a City’ drop-down at the top of the page and click ‘See Details.’
Before recycling a license plate, we recommend cutting it in some way so it cannot be used by someone else.
For a list of scrap metal recyclers, see the Business Locations list below.
There are also hauling companies willing to pick up and haul away your scrap metal items. Using your zip code, check the Yellow Pages for scrap metal haulers or removal services.
